Have you been wondering want exactly are N scale model trains? Well, here comes the brief explanation.
N scales are simply model railway scales or track gauges. They are usually pretty standard and range from 1:148 to 1:160, except for minor variations between manufacturers and their country of origin. However, the gauge which is the distance between the rails, is always 9 mm. The term N gauge and N scale are quite often used interchangeably but either one relates to the dimensions of the tracks. The main advantage of N scales is that they take up less space than most of the other scales such as Z, O, HO, etc. And that is why they are so popular with hobbyists who build their own layouts.
